Abstract

Rapid advances in financial technology over the decades have tremendously changed both the way of life and the way of doing business. The ubiquitous usage of internet usage is fostering new forms of transactions. Mobile payments were introduced as a new way to conveniently and effectively conduct financial transactions through the use of digital platforms. This study analyzes the factors influencing the adoption of mobile payments as a payment method for Generation Z. Generation Z represents not only the next generation of our society but also the generation that interacts most with internet technology. Using the Extended UTAUT model, this study involved 100 generation Z respondents in Jakarta and surrounding areas (JABODETABEK) and further analyzed with the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM).  The results show that: Performance Expectancy, Social Influence, Facilitating Condition, Perceived Enjoyment and Trust have a significant effect on the behavioral intention to use mobile payments as a means of conducting online transactions; whilst Effort Expectancy has no significant effect.
