Abstract

The aim of this research is to obtain the knowledge regarding the influence of Financial Technology (fintech) and Financial Literacy toward Financial Management Behavior. This research conducted in Surakarta. Questionnaire is used to collect the data of this quantitative study. The sample 175 respondents with predetermined criteria, namely students of State Universities and Private Universities who had used fintech applications. Correspondence analysis and chi-square are used to analyze. The results of this research indicate that the application of fintech has negative influence toward Financial Management Behavior while Financial Literacy has a positive and significant effect on student Financial Management Behavior. In addition, the results show that that Gender and Education are able to control the research variables. This research has two implications, (1) Financial literacy is an important factor in supporting student financial behavior, the higher knowledge of students, the better at making financial decisions and (2) The use of fintech has negative effect on student financial management behavior, due to limited research samples and cashless activities wich cause a consumerism culture has not been able to provide a good understanding of students financial behavior.
