Abstract


This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of transformational leadership on work engagement and intention to quit mediated by structural empowerment studies on nurses at Semarang Raya and Solo Raya Hospitals. This research will serve as empirical evidence related to structural empowerment, particularly on the effect of transformational leadership on work engagement that passes through structural empowerment and leads to the intention to stay as a nurse. Respondents of this study were nurses at Semarang Raya and Solo Raya Hospitals. The data were taken using non probability sampling method and the technique used was snowball sampling. Validity and reliability tests were used in the instrument test, and SEM Partial Least Square (PLS) was used to test models and hypotheses.

Based on the results, it can be concluded that transformational leadership had an influence on structural empowerment and work engagement. In addition, the structural empowerment had an influence on work engagement and could be a mediating variable of transformational leadership on work engagement. Finally, work engagement had an influence on turnover intention.
